On 1 October, Dame Julie Andrews turns 90. Beloved worldwide as Mary Poppins and Maria von Trapp, she also found in Gstaad what she once called her “last paradise in a crazy world.”

Country Night Gstaad once again filled the big tent with music and community — a mix of Americana legends, rising voices, and the unmistakable spirit that makes this festival one of Switzerland’s most distinctive traditions.

For wildlife photographer and conservationist Griet van Malderen, the camera is not only an artistic tool but a way to give endangered animals a voice. Speaking to Griet, it quickly becomes evident that every frame she captures focuses more on urgency than on aesthetics.
