The Huus Hotel Gstaad-Saanen won two prestigious awards in the categories Bar, Club, Lounge and Visual Identity of the Year at the AHEAD Europe Award for Hospitality Experience and Design.
Kids Win Big at Glacier3000 Competition
57 youngsters from different nations took part in the first Swiss Ski Slopestyle Kids Event on the Glacier 3000 last Saturday. The competition was moved up by one day so the event could be held under perfect weather conditions.
Ski Season Begins One Week Early
Skiers and snowboarders experienced a brilliant start to the season in the Gstaad ski areas of Hornberg, Horneggli, and Hornfluh. Due to excellent conditions, BDG opened the first slopes one week before the scheduled date.
Free Travel with Ski Pass
If you have a valid ski pass, you may be able to use public transport for free this winter–whether for snow sports, work or school. In addition to public sector participation, the BDG will also contribute to the costs.

Storm Collapses Scaffolding at Airport
On Sunday, 12 November, an accident occurred on the construction site of the airfield. The rescue services were immediately mobilized, and fortunately no one was injured.
Ensohag Completes Wood Chip Warehouse
In April, construction began on the new warehouse of Energieholz AG Saanenland (Enhosag) after a ground-breaking ceremony. Now, the unit, which houses all wood for the district heating of the EBL, Elektra Baselland AG, has been completed.
Witnesses Sought for Gstaad Robbery
Last Friday night in Gstaad, unknown offenders broke into a boutique by rear-ending a car into the windows. They fled with merchandise in a getaway car, which was later found in Feutersoey. Police are now asking for witnesses to come forward.
Famous Fondue Caquelon Returns
The large wooden caquelon that spent the summer as a regional ambassador in the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt is now back home. On the 7 November it was inaugurated into the cheese grotto in Gstaad, the newest of the grotto's three caquelons.
Hotel Solsana to Close
For some time, rumours have been circulating around Hotel Solsana. Now, the hotel has announced it will shutter its doors at the end of the winter season 2017/2018. Until then, locals and guests can continue to enjoy the hotel and restaurant.
A Snowy Surprise
After watching the snowfall disappear last Sunday, we were greeted again on Monday by soothing white flakes. A light winter greeting has been delivered to the Saanenland.

Last week, the Governing Council of the Canton of Bern announced that the planned plant for the production of drinking water for public water supply may be built.
Pilatus Jet Sets Down in Saanen
The brand new Pilatus PC-24 aircraft landed in Saanen for the first time on 26 October. During this last test phase it flew to various Swiss airfields, making two approaches in Saanen on Thursday afternoon.
Gstaadermesse Thrills the Saanenland
The Gstaadermesse was a roaring success, attracting visitors from the region on four event-filled days. In addition to the attractive stands, there was also a varied program of speeches, meetings, and entertainment.
La Braye Set to Open in December
The cable car La Braye in Château-d'Oex was closed in the summer due to financial difficulties, but it will now open just in time for the winter season.
