On Sunday, 12 November, an accident occurred on the construction site of the airfield. The rescue services were immediately mobilized, and fortunately no one was injured.
As Walter Egger, president of the Aerodrome Co-Operative Gstaad-Saanenland, announced, scaffolding collapsed at the construction site of the airfield in Saanen due to stormy weather. The collapse blocked some of the Montreux-Oberland-Bahn (MOB) railway line. Despite the fact that no one was harmed, considerable property damage occured. The railway line had to be temporarily closed between Saanen and Rougemont and the passengers were transported by bus.
The cleanup work was initiated immediately and rail traffic returned to normal the following day.
