Regular readers of this website will be familiar with the Gstaad Automobile Club. It was under GAC colors that Stanislas de Sadeleer, Vincent Janssens, and Hansueli Brand all crossed the Sahara desert in the Transafricaine Classic Rally from Paris to Dakar.
In the wake of the Bertarelli family’s decision to make their primary residence in the Gemeinde of Saanen (of which Gstaad is a part), the local authorities have announced that local income taxes will be reduced from their current 1.6% level to 1.4%.
Those of you who here in Gstaad right now might have noticed those ominous building markers outside the Pernet Comestibles gourmet grocery store.
It’s finally over. Team Gstaad Automobile Club has successfully completed the 2nd Transafricaine Classic Rally from Paris to Dakar. And not only did they finish, but they came in a remarkable 9th place in the overall standings.

As we follow the Gstaad Automobile Club in their trek across the Sahara desert we are now able to bring you the first images from the early African stages of the Transafricaine Paris-Dakar Classic Rally.

Well, they didn't get enough last year. This week Stanislas de Sadeleer of the Gstaad Automobile Club, and his co-pilot Vincent Janssens, will be embarking on another epic voyage from Paris to Dakar in the second annual Transafricaine Classic Rally which begins on November 1 in France.
