Greek Sensation Set to Shine at EFG Swiss Open Gstaad Debut!

The tournament organisers announced today that Stefanos Tsitsipas, one of tennis's brightest stars, will debut at the prestigious EFG Swiss Open Gstaad. Hailing from Athens, the charismatic Greek brings with him a formidable reputation. He has boasted ten tournament victories and two Grand Slam final appearances, including a thrilling run at Roland Garros in 2021 and last year's Australian Open.

The 25-year-old, known for his elegant one-handed backhand, represents the new guard of tennis talent, challenging the dominance of legends like Federer, Djokovic, and Nadal. Climbing as high as 3rd in the world rankings in 2022, Tsitsipas arrives in Gstaad aiming to fine-tune his game ahead of the Olympic tennis tournament in Paris under the guidance of his father and coach, Apostolos.

Tsitsipas's journey in Gstaad won't be without its hurdles, as he faces tough competition from rising stars like Australian Alex de Minaur (ATP 10), who recently triumphed in Acapulco. Additionally, Swiss sensation Dominic Stricker (ATP 111), who shocked Tsitsipas at last year's US Open, and Czech talent Jiri Lehecka (ATP 32) pose formidable challenges alongside established players like Felix Auger Aliassime (ATP 31) and Borna Coric (ATP 35).

Fans of the graceful one-handed backhand will be treated to a spectacle, with Tsitsipas joined by the likes of three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka (ATP 70), former Gstaad winners Dominic Thiem (AUT, ATP 92), and Richard Gasquet (FRA, ATP 118), promising a display of virtuoso tennis at the picturesque Saanenland.
