PLONGER by John Armleder

18.07.2025 Arts & Culture, Events, Arts & Culture

This summer, Hindergässli presents PLONGER, a solo exhibition of new works by renowned Swiss artist John Armleder. A key figure in contemporary art since the 1970s, Armleder’s practice spans abstraction, conceptualism, and design, often dissolving the boundaries between painting, performance, and installation.

The works on display have been created specifically for this presentation, including two Pour paintings where chance and materiality come together in luminous, flowing compositions. At the centre of the exhibition is a new furniture sculpture, designed especially for the show using mobilier that reflects the cultural and material vernacular of the Bernese Oberland – further exemplifying Armleder’s signature play with function, irony, and aesthetic form.
