Could your chalet be more than just a holiday retreat?

In short, what is Keey?
Keey is a private digital platform for second-home owners, designed to let you share your chalet only with family and friends. There are no public listings, no strangers, and no administrative hassle. Owners remain in full control of who books and when, while the system takes care of the practicalities. The platform will launch in Gstaad and other pilot regions in 2026—more info: www.keey.swiss.

Keey: A new way to share your chalet privately
In Switzerland, an estimated 600,000 holiday apartments stand empty for more than 300 days each year – that’s almost 200 million “cold nights.” It’s a striking figure in a country where second homes are an essential part of both the landscape and the economy.

To counter this, a new digital platform called Keey has been launched, offering second-home owners a way to keep their chalets and apartments lived-in without turning to the open rental market. The Gstaad holiday region has been chosen as one of the pilot destinations for the project, supported by the federal programme Innotour.

Private, not public
Unlike Airbnb or other booking platforms, Keey is not about strangers discovering your property. Instead, it is designed for private circles, such as family, friends, or trusted contacts. Owners remain in complete control, deciding who can book and when. The platform manages all the practicalities – from listing and booking to payments and accounting – while ensuring the process remains entirely private.

Benefits for owners and the region
For owners, the advantages are clear: no public advertising, no exposure to unknown guests, and no administrative burden. For the wider region, the effect is also positive. More lived-in chalets mean more people on the mountain lifts, in the restaurants, and in the local shops. “Digital solutions like Keey help us reduce the number of empty holiday homes. That benefits not only the owner but the whole region,” explains Flurin Riedi, Director of Gstaad Saanenland Tourism.

When will it launch?
The platform will be available to hosts and their guests from January 2026. Full operations are planned for April 2026, at which point Keey will also begin rolling out further functions and improvements.

A national project
Several leading Swiss holiday regions back Keey. It is carried by Jungfrau Region Tourismus AG, with strong support from Gstaad, Davos Klosters, and Engadin Samnaun Val Müstair. Together, these model regions represent different types of holiday home markets, helping to shape the platform for all of Switzerland.
