The Saanenland’s beauty has always attracted a steady stream of long- and short-term guests, making it one of the country’s most prestigious alpine resorts. But what if, amongst all this natural splendour, some of us couldn’t see the forest for the trees?
Photo: Fotolia What were the highlights of your summer? Whether we’re talking the great outdoors, sporting events, classical concerts, or even just dinner, there were many to choose from here in the Saanenland. My summer was blessed with several special experiences.

Photo: Fotolia Letter from the Editor, December 19, 2014 Welcome to the first Winter 2014/2015 issue of GSTAADLIFE. It’s that time of year again, and I’m seeing red. Poinsettias, shimmering garlands, and ruby-coloured Glühwein, that is.
Photo: Fotolia By: Alexis Munier At the risk of violating my own privacy, let me reveal that I’m feeling perky these days, and it’s not just the early chill in the air. Life is good here in September, traditionally one of the crispest, sunniest months in the Saanenland.

Photo: Fotolia Four months in Gstaad and I’ve yet to get up close and personal with one of the Saanenland’s famous goats.
Letter from the Editor As a California girl, I can’t help but compare the Golden State to the evergreen Saanenland, especially when friends and family ask where the good life is best. Forgive me, lovely homeland of my youth. Hands down, the Saanenland wins.
How exactly does a California girl make it up to the Berner Oberland? Via Gstaadstrasse, of course! When I arrived in Zürich in 2003, a fresh-faced writer and opera singer with a hankering for adventure, I rented a room in an old home on Gstaadstrasse.
