ROFL - Oliver Preston published two new books recently - 'Another Log on the Fire' and 'Fondue and Furs'. The latter looks at Gstaad and Saanenland and a barrel of laughs is guaranteed :-)
Just one careful German owner. Never even lived in. Taki's gonna love this ...
Unbelievable but true - it's been 40 years since Bill and Sandy Lovell started the JFK International School in Saanen. Last week the celebrations started and the Lovell's were surprised by a cook book created by the parent association.
Simply hilarious - Preston's pictures capture Gstaad at its best. Check out his new exhibition at the Gstaad Palace from February 17 to 18 2011, 17h-21h. You can enjoy a little pre-dégustation after the jump.
The Hotel Spitzhorn in Saanen, which is owned by Basler Insurance, is (long over-)due for renovation - well actually a complete demolishing and rebuilding. The image above shows the plans for the new complex, which as you can see are quite an upgrade on the existing structures (below).
Very shiny - the new riding center Gstaad was presented to the public a week ago. Full-on pampering for the beloved horses - solarium room included! More picutres after the jump.
Did you see these signs last Friday? They were all over town and our sister publication even changed the masthead of its Friday issue.
The roof is on - and with it the builders have achieved a major milestone in the construction of the Grand Hotel Alpina. This, of course, calls for celebration. So everybody is invited to visit the largest construction site in Gstaad on Saturday November 20 from 11h30 to 16h00.
Around this time of year we often find ourselves thinking of all you poor people in the Flachland, plying your trades under endless days of mist and fog. Above, the view from the Hugeligrat towards Relleri and the sea of autumnal fog beyond.
Michel and Ilse Wichman, ex-directors of the Grand Hotel Bellevue in Gstaad (above) are back in business.
Great musical performances and by far the best parade of the year. Above the scene in the Promenade just after 11h00 this past Sunday September 12. Click here for more images:
It’s not been a good year or so for Chalberhöni: back in Christmas 2008 there was the total destruction of a chalet due to fire, and now the flash floods of July 10 have left the village completely cut off from the rest of Saanenland .
Fresh off last weekend's FA Cup victory over Portmouth, Didier Drogba (above) has arrived here in Saanenland to lead the Ivory Coast national team in their pre-World Cup training camp.
