SAANEN’S CHARMING MARKET DREW  CROWDS AND SUNSHINE

Saanen’s historic centre came alive with colour, conversation, and the scent of grilled specialities, as the annual Brocante and Market once again transformed the village into a treasure-hunter’s paradise. With a record 155 stalls, including around 30 first-time exhibitors, the event offered a dazzling array of antiques, curiosities, and handcrafted goods.
It’s impressive to see how far the appeal of this local tradition now stretches. While the day’s vendors came from across Switzerland (and one from France), organisers also fielded a flood of enquiries from Italy, France, and Germany from sellers eager to join in.

Local shops and small businesses were out in force, adding to the familiar warmth of the day. Among them were organisations close to the heart of the community, such as the Lions, Rotary, and Soroptimists – each selling with purpose, channelling every franc raised towards charitable causes. Under flawless skies and a generous 30°C, the streets bustled with visitors. Brass bands alternated with bluesman Marc Amacher, whose soulful set on the Sanonaplatz gave the village a gentle swing. Between the music, the stalls, and the smell of fresh bread and sizzling sausages, it was a feast for all senses.

As the afternoon stretched towards evening, the market’s rhythm never slowed. Neighbours met over wine, tourists paused in shaded corners with ice cream, and children darted between tables piled high with books and vintage toys. By the time the final notes faded from the Dorfplatz, it was clear that once more the market was a success and a postcard-perfect celebration of Saanen itself, at its most welcoming, lively, and full of surprises.
