28.03.2025 Local News, Luxury, Hôtellerie, Business, NewsUpdateNew chapter for The Alpina Gstaad as the hotel changes hands. Its confirmed – the renowned five-star hotel The Alpina Gstaad has been sold. Co-owner Marcel Bach confirmed that the new proprietors are an industrial family from the United States.
Opened on 1 December 2012, The Alpina Gstaad has become a symbol of refined luxury in the region. Now, nearly 13 years later, the two owners – Marcel Bach and Jean-Claude Mimran – have handed over the reins. The news was first reported by "Hotel Inside" on Wednesday. Later Marcel Bach confirmed the sale. “The buyers are an industrial family from the U.S.,” he said. “They had the desire to own something in Europe. They love Gstaad and have stayed at the hotel before. It left a very positive impression on them.”
A Strategic Move for the Future
The decision to sell, Bach explained, was driven by several factors – but not necessity. “We didn’t have to sell,” he emphasised. “But Jean-Claude Mimran is 80, and I’ll be turning 70 this year. We felt the time was right.”
He described the sale as well-considered: “We’ve found a good solution. This ensures the future of the hotel – because it must go on. And the new owners are people who want to invest.”
“Business as Usual” for Staff and Guests
According to Bach, operations at the hotel will remain unchanged. He will continue as board chairman, and Nadine Friedli will remain general manager. “That continuity is also important to the new owners,” he noted.
As for the purchase price, Bach declined to comment and did not confirm the CHF 200 million figure cited by "Hotel Inside".
