Mad Muni Festival opens with folk music night in Saanen

Only in Switzerland would a yodelling group be the warm-up act for a punk/rock festival! May 1st, the Mad Muni Festival kicks off with a genuinely unique highlight—a folk music evening that brings together all generations and musical tastes.

While the Mad Muni Festival is traditionally known as a punk and rock event, this opening night offers a relaxed and cosy atmosphere, where locals from the Saanenland – even those not typically into rock music – can gather in the heated festival tent.

The evening features a delightful mix of yodelling and accordion music starting at 6 p.m.. Performing this year is the renowned Jodlerklub Bärgfriede Gstaad, a beloved group with several appearances at the festival under their belt. Their powerful yodelling songs will surely strike a chord with everyone in the tent.

But that’s not all! Also taking the stage is the Schwyzerörgeliquartett Rinderberg, a local ensemble whose infectious rhythms are guaranteed to lift spirits and get people dancing – yes, dancing is absolutely encouraged!

Festivalgoers can also look forward to tasty food and refreshing drinks to keep everyone well-fed and hydrated. And don’t forget: earlier that day, the traditional market in Saanen invites visitors to stroll, browse, and discover – the perfect lead-in to a festive evening in the tent.

Ahead lies a cheerful evening with friends and family, and you can experience the rich diversity of the Mad Muni Festival – a celebration for young and old, folk music fans, and anyone simply looking to enjoy a great night out. Admission tonight is free.
