“Every centimetre counts!” This is the motto of the Gstaad Sports Centre’s sponsorship campaign for a new water slide at the Saanen outdoor pool. After 36 seasons, the old Le Bijou slide has been replaced, and we need your help to finance it. The new slide is an impressive 72.6 metres long, and we’re looking for supporters to fund it centimetre by centimetre. This campaign is close to the hearts of many residents who have fond memories of the old slide, and we want to ensure the next generation can create their own.

Become a Sponsor
Every supporter of one or more centimetres will be listed on the sponsor board at the Saanen outdoor pool with their share of the slide, gaining recognition for their contribution. But the benefits don’t stop there. Supporters of 20 centimetres or more will receive a season ticket for the 2024 summer swimming season, a token of our appreciation for their generous support. Almost 90 Years of History
The “Volksbad” first opened in 1938, initially using water from the Kauflisbach stream. Due to hygiene issues, an ISO water purification system was installed in 1953. Since 1961, only hydrant water has been used for the pool. From 1966 to 1974, the pool was renovated and expanded to meet modern standards. The first water slide was built in the 1980s, thanks to Ruedi Baumer, then-president of the Saanen Tourist Association. In June 1988, Le Bijou celebrated its 50th anniversary with the opening of the 61-metre slide, the longest in an outdoor pool at the time.

The outdoor pool season begins on 23 June, and we look forward to inaugurating the new slide with your support.
