Summer Through Local Eyes: Franchesca Beau

  19.06.2026 Arts & Culture

Throughout our summer editions, GstaadLife will showcase the work of artists from the Saanenland and Pays d'Enhaut, each offering their own interpretation of the season. Rather than simply portraying a landscape, these paintings capture memories, moments and emotions inspired by nature. We invited each artist to share the story behind the work featured in these pages.

Franchesca Beau – Cherry Blossoms

"This painting was inspired by a walk through the famous cherry orchards of the Fricktal near Basel. Accompanied by my Jack Russell Terrier, Emily, I wandered among trees in full bloom, where the landscape had become a sea of soft pinks, whites and delicate violets.

I took countless photographs that day, following the changing light across the rolling hills and the blossoms. Back in my studio, those images became something different. Rather than recreating a particular place, I wanted to capture the feeling of that day—the movement, the colours and the quiet joy of being surrounded by nature at its most exuberant.

Cherry Blossoms is my interpretation of that fleeting moment, celebrating the beauty and optimism that spring brings."
