Flaviano Salzani at Galerie Paltenghi

This winter, Galerie Paltenghi presents a focused exhibition of works by Flaviano Salzani, bringing together sgraffito pieces alongside small clay sculptures, objects and drawings.

Salzani’s practice is rooted in material sensitivity. His sgraffito works reveal images through subtraction rather than addition, where scratched lines and layered surfaces create quiet tension and rhythm. The clay sculptures and objects extend this dialogue into three dimensions, remaining intimate in scale yet rich in texture and presence. Drawings, shown alongside the sculptural works, offer insight into his visual thinking and process.

Rather than aiming for monumentality, the exhibition invites close looking. It is an encounter with surfaces, gestures and traces – works that unfold slowly and reward attention. To add a personal dimension to the presentation, the artist will be at the gallery every Saturday throughout the exhibition.
