LET THE music PLAY

Four September stages, four different moods

September in Gstaad doesn’t wind down quietly – it unfolds across three weekends of music, each with its own atmosphere. From cowboy boots and banjos to open-air street beats, electronic soundscapes in chalet-style settings, and chamber notes drifting through private gardens, the month brings music lovers together in every possible key.

And so September carries its own rhythm: it begins under the big top with guitars and steel strings, wanders through hidden gardens in the Pays-d’Enhaut, shifts to the Promenade where music drifts through the late-summer air and ends in chalet-style intimacy with electronic beats and visuals. Four stages, four moods – each leaving its own echo in the valley. Compiled and remixed by J.Wichmann.

Country Night Gstaad
12–13 September
Now in its 36th edition, Country Night needs little introduction. The festival tent once again hosts a line-up that mixes Nashville energy with local flair: Scotty McCreery, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Hailey Whitters share the bill, with Swiss talent Florian Fox setting the tone. Beyond the main stage, expect the familiar bustle – line-dancing, saloons, Luna Park, and after-parties that keep the music rolling late into the night. www.countrynight-gstaad.ch/en

Fête de la Musique
20 September
A week later, the Promenade transforms into its own stage. The Fête de la Musique offers a lively, free-flowing series of concerts with performances scattered across Kapälli-platz and beyond. From afternoon into evening, the village buzzes with everything from acoustic sets to brass and funk. It’s as much about chance encounters as it is about the music: you stroll, listen and you linger. www.instagram.com/fetedelamusiquegstaad

Caprices Gstaad 2025
19–21 September
For those seeking a different beat, Caprices returns to Gstaad with a boutique format featuring two stages and a chalet-style setting. Known for its immersive audiovisual production, the festival offers an alpine twist on electronic music, an intimate counterpoint to its larger Crans-Montana sibling. www.capricesfestival.com/event/caprices-gstaad-2025/

Le Son des Jardins
6–7 September
Making its debut this year, Le Son des Jardins introduces a new type of festival to the region. In its first edition, private gardens and hidden courtyards in Château-d’Œx and Rossinière become intimate stages for classical ensembles, jazz trios, and world-music artists. The setting is as much the star as the repertoire – a chance to experience music woven into the peaceful charm of the Pays-d’Enhaut. www.la-datcha.ch/festival-le-son-des-jardins
