The GYC Racing Team, led by Peter Erzberger, has demonstrated exceptional effectiveness and success in securing significant victories that have brought recognition to the Saanenland region. This triumph reflects the dedication of the GYC Racing Team committee. It underscores Peter Erzberger’s nearly seven decades of sailing expertise, which he now channels to guide the exceptionally talented sailors associated with the GYC.

Anja von Allmen Shines in ILCA 6 (Laser Radial) Class
In recent headlines, Anja von Allmen has garnered attention for her outstanding achievements in the ILCA 6 (Laser Radial) class, showcasing her full potential and contributing to Switzerland’s success. Notably, Anja clinched the U21 Vice-World Champion title in Tangier (MAR), concluding a Silver season that also saw her selected for the Swiss Alinghi Redbull Racing Team in the Youth & Puig Women’s America’s Cup, a well-deserved honour.

The Men Making Waves in Olympic Classes
Saannenland boasts male sailors excelling in various Olympic classes. Joshua Richner, a young Gstaad Ambassador since 2022, and his 49er crewmate Nilo Schaerer have displayed remarkable achievements, including a U21 Junior World Championship. Despite facing challenges in the sailing season, they are determined to compete in the 2028 Olympics, with a chance to challenge the Youth America’s Cup in Barcelona in 2024.

Verhulst Brothers Set Sights on Long-Term Goals
Gauthier and Martin Verhulst, representing the GYC in the ILCA 7 (Laser), aspire to achieve long-term goals. Gauthier, the more experienced brother, aims to be in the Top 30 at the 2024 European and World Championships and is vying for a spot in the Olympics in France. Meanwhile, Martin, recognised with the “Sports Merit of Pully” award, holds promise to make significant contributions to sailing in Switzerland and internationally.

Five Sailors in Elite Swiss Sailing Team
The GYC proudly announces that all five sailors have earned a place in the Elite Swiss Sailing Team squadron. This achievement grants them access to the infrastructure provided by the Swiss Federation, demonstrating the GYC’s commitment to supporting talented sailors who meet the specified criteria.

As the year comes to a close, the GYC looks ahead to the future, reaffirming its commitment to enabling young, talented sailors to pursue their dreams. The GYC continues to be a driving force in the international sailing scene, fostering excellence and success among its dedicated team of sailors.
