Eagle Ski Club returns to AICC races in Klosters
25.04.2025 Sports & LeisureAfter several years away from the Amateur Interclub Team Championship (AICC), the Eagle Ski Club made a strong return at this year’s races in Klosters—combining sporting ambition with the camaraderie that defines this unique international event.
Founded in 2008 by the Kandahar Ski Club in Mürren, the AICC was the brainchild of Cleeves Palmer. His vision: a series of races for amateur skiers representing clubs from across Europe, competing in four teams across various age and gender categories. Events include a Super-G, a Giant Slalom, and an optional Parallel Slalom.
The Eagle Ski Club has long been an enthusiastic supporter of the AICC and even hosted the event in 2012. Over the years, the club has celebrated several wins—three times with its women’s team and four times with its veteran men.
This year’s edition, held from 20 to 22 March in Klosters, was hosted by the Mardens Ski Club under the leadership of James Palmer-Tomkinson. More than 270 racers took part, including a strong showing from the local region.
After a pause, Eagle returned with a newly formed mixed team, which completed all races with skill and determination. Alexandra Maude-Roxby, Natascha Wittgenstein, Rodolfo de Lara Campos, and Lorenzo Fanni represented the club.
The Parallel Slalom proved a highlight of the weekend, with teams drawn randomly from members of different clubs. Alexandra Maude-Roxby’s mixed team delivered an impressive second-place finish—an excellent result in a tightly contested event.
Beyond the racing, the AICC is also a social affair. Over 400 guests gathered for the gala dinner, which ended in true Klosters style with a spirited celebration at the iconic "Casa Antica."
The Eagle Ski Club team’s enthusiasm was unmistakable, and preparations are already underway for the next AICC races, which will be hosted by the Arlberg Ski Club in March 2026 in Lech, Austria.
As former team captain Beat H. Walpoth reflects, “I’ve had the pleasure of competing in several past AICC races and leading the Eagle team. That role now passes to Alexandra Maude-Roxby, who brings fresh energy and a deep commitment to the club’s future—both on and off the piste.”
