Back to the Roots Concert: A Nostalgic Journey

  27.04.2024 Arts & Culture

Experience a unique concert featuring five former students of the International Menuhin Music Academy (IMMA). Join us on Tuesday, April 30th at 5 pm in Saanen Church for this special event.

The performers include violinists Sophia Reuter, Liviu Prunaru, Bogdan Zvoristeanu, and cellist Stanimir Todorov, all of whom were accepted into IMMA in the early 1990s. Violinist Valentina Svjatoslavskaya joined the academy in 2000, where Sophia, Liviu, and Bogdan were already serving as assistant professors.

Founded in Gstaad in 1977, IMMA was established to provide a dedicated space for the Camerata Lysy and fulfil Yehudi Menuhin's vision of a string academy where talented musicians could engage in intensive musical studies regardless of their backgrounds. Alberto Lysy, Menuhin's pupil, served as IMMA's director with unwavering dedication until his passing, leaving a lasting impact on countless students.

The upcoming concert promises to be a nostalgic journey with these five accomplished musicians, representing a golden era of IMMA graduates. They have since excelled as section leaders in orchestras, professors at prestigious academies, and members of esteemed chamber music ensembles while embodying Menuhin's ethos of sharing and preserving musical traditions.

Prepare for an evening of musical delight as these musicians take you 'Back to the Roots' of their musical journey in Saanenland. The concert's program, a delightful mix of pieces, will be revealed on the night of the event.
