ALPENBLICK GSTAAD: A HEARTFELT PROJECT WITH SOCIAL IMPACT

Where Biel’s schoolchildren once lit their campfires, a new place for community and the future is taking shape. The Alpenblick Gstaad Foundation is transforming the site of the former holiday home into affordable housing and a modern, socially oriented holiday and education centre.

When Nathanael Perreten first stepped onto the grounds of the old Alpenblick in Gstaad, he was deeply moved. “I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the place and the potential it holds,” recalls the foundation’s president. That moment of emotional connection sparked an extraordinary project with a far-reaching social vision: Alpenblick aims to become a place that offers people a sense of belonging, encouragement, and new perspectives.

Two pillars, one goal: creating social value
The non-profit Alpenblick Gstaad Foundation unites two major undertakings under one roof: the construction of four residential buildings for locals, and the creation of a learning and holiday retreat for families, schools, and groups. Both initiatives are expressions of a deeply rooted social commitment intended to serve the Saanenland community for generations to come. “The aim is not just to build houses,” says Perreten. “We want to create a home for people who live and work here and who help sustain our region.” In Gstaad’s highpriced property market, affordable housing has become almost impossible to find. The planned apartments are designed to prevent young families and skilled workers from moving away, helping to preserve a healthy social mix and strengthen the local community.
A haven for learning, recovery, and new ways of living
Alongside the housing development, the historic site will host a guest and group accommodation complex with a total of 200 beds. The holiday oasis is mainly aimed at children, young people, and families who otherwise could not afford a holiday. “This is a place where people can recharge, gain new perspectives, and simply breathe again,” says Perreten.

A vision that connects
One of the most moving aspects for the foundation’s board members is the symbolic connection between Gstaad and Biel – the two “hearts” of the project. The former holiday home, founded by the city of Biel, is now being transformed into a new meeting place in Gstaad, carrying forward its spirit. “This project found us – we didn’t go looking for it. And that’s exactly why it feels so right,” says Perreten. The fact that the foundation is under state supervision and its social mission is legally enshrined underscores the seriousness and security of the investment.

The building application has been submitted. If all goes according to plan, construction of the residential buildings will begin in spring 2027, followed by the holiday complex in autumn 2028.

Investing in people and the future
Alpenblick is not a typical investment opportunity – nor is it meant to be. It is, above all, an investment in people, community, and the future. For Perreten, the purpose could not be clearer: “Those who invest here do not do it for themselves, but for society.”

A place that connects generations, embodies values, and gives hope – that is the new Alpenblick Gstaad.

Now is the time to join this vision. Support a project that invests in people – and in a socially sustainable, liveable future.
