The little bookshop in the alps

  20.07.2022 Arts & Culture

What fascinated me in the first place about this region is that so many have created something special out of enthusiasm for what they are passionate about.

One such delightful example is the exquisite little bookshop on Dorfstrasse in Saanen. This charming boutique, with its wooden bookcases, dark painted walls and a fireplace, gives you the impression of being in your own private library.

The shop has specialised in bringing together the French and English-speaking worlds and, after some customer requests, also some books in German. The focus is mainly on literature and fine arts, but selected children's books and some on lifestyle & design have found their way to the bookshelves. It’s an excellent selection between the most recent publications as well as more contemporary works. The team of three booksellers make you feel welcome from the moment you step into the shop, and they are delighted to share their favourite books and suggest recommendations for you. If your desired book is not in the shop, they will gladly order it for you – even schoolbooks or texts of a more technical character too. The idea is to offer residents, seasonal guests and nomads alike a source of books.

I can only recommend you to go and explore; I'm sure you will find inspiration for your summer read too. Enjoy.
