Strong winds have kicked up a lot of dust in the Sahara. Last week the Sahara dust arrived in Switzerland and in Gstaad. The yellow tinge at the sky made for an apocalyptic atmosphere. The iron-rich dust particles leave behind distinct rusty-brown deposits when it rains. Many cars that did not get a proper wash yet still look rusty... On Glacier 3000, for example, not only the sky but also the snow was coloured orange.
