Representatives of the municipality of Saanen, workers involved in the construction, the press as well as planners and construction managers were present and explained the newly built bridge. Construction foreman Christian Schmid and project manager Roland Dietrich provided facts and figures.

The new bridge became necessary because the existing construction no longer met the necessary requirements.

Access to the growing industrial estate was becoming increasingly difficult, especially for lorries, as goods traffic was becoming denser. Heavy goods transports completely exhausted the capacities of the old bridge.

And finally, it turned out that the flow profile for the Saane was insufficient and could have caused problems should the level of the river rise too high.
