Scuttling nightmare for bees: the warm weather at the beginning of June lured them out of their hiding places: the crab spiders, which are feared by bees and wasps. Pictured is one of the 2,155 species found worldwide. As if stuffed, it often remains hidden under a flower for hours until, as in the picture, an unsuspecting bee approaches. The spider grabs it in a flash with its tentacles, injects its venom and then sucks it dry.
