The industrial area has developed strongly in recent years, and there is a lot of traffic to the ARA, EBL and SORSAG - "including heavy traffic", as Dietrich emphasises. The existing bridge does not have the necessary load-bearing capacity. Moreover, it is very narrow, so that crossing it is a challenge, especially for lorry drivers. For this reason, it was decided to build a replacement bridge a few metres further up. "As soon as the new bridge is in place, the old one will be dismantled," says Dietrich.

Some preparations are first being made for the construction of the new Dorfrütti bridge. The team is levelling a minor bypass road to divert traffic from the so-called western access. "Only when the bypass is in place will we start the actual work on the waterfront in mid-May," the project manager explains.
