Comforting words on the façade of the Gstaad Palace

  16.02.2021 Arts & Culture

“Everything is going to be alright” beams down on Gstaad from the Gstaad Palace. The phrase refers to the comforting words of a friend of the artist Martin Creed: “No one can tell you for sure that everything will be alright. Nevertheless, I have often found comfort in these words.” And he probably hits the nerve of the current time quite accurately. Since 21 December and until 7 March, locals and visitors can admire the Work No. 3485 Everything Is Going to Be Alright by the British artist Creed. The Gstaad Palace has been exhibiting various works of art in collaboration with Hauser & Wirth since 2019. The current light installation is part of a series that has already been installed at a number of internationally renowned institutions and buildings, including the façade of the Tate in London and Braemar Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Creed’s neon sign follows the large-format scrolling texts – the Truisms – by US artist Jenny Holzer, which she projected onto the Gstaad Palace and the surrounding landscape last winter.
