According to HotellerieSuisse, the second pandemic wave is hitting the hotel industry hard. A wave of redundancies is already in full swing. In order to prevent the wave of redundancies from being followed by a wave of bankruptcies, the association is calling for the rapid implementation of hardship aid in the form of interest-free contributions for companies that suffer a drop in turnover of at least 40 percent through no fault of their own. The crisis has also triggered a rise in short-time work and investment stops. The ETH Economic Research Institute (KOF) is expecting a drop in overnight stays in the mountain areas of at least 30 percent this winter due to the missing international clientele.
