The first stage was carried out in 2019 and the second stage began in August this year. By Christmas, the Turpachbach should flow again in its usual streambed. Currently the barriers 1 to 3, 6, 8 and 11 are being repaired. If everything goes according to plan, the Turpachbach will flow in its usual course again at Christmas.

At dam 6 is the water intake for the snowmaking of the Wasserngrat. "They definitely want snow on 1 November. That puts us under a lot of pressure, but we will make it," emphasises Simon Moratti of Moratti Mettlen AG, who has estimated the cost of the renovation at around CHF 6m. The confederation and the canton will bear 60 percent of the costs, while the Schwellenkorporation Saanen will have to pay 40 percent of the costs – around CHF 2.4m.
