"Buying habits are changing fundamentally. Our counters are not exempt from this development. Over the last ten years, the revenue from ticket sales in Saanen has fallen by half," says the MOB, justifying the closure of the ticket office at the end of 2020.

Until recently, staff had also performed tasks in regulating rail traffic with a crossing in this area. "The presence of an employee is no longer indispensable as from the next timetable change."

The closure does not entail any redundancies, the MOB maintains. The two employees concerned will be transferred to other departments.

Customers will be able to buy their tickets from vending machines or soon from the MOB web shop at www.mob.ch. For personal advice, customers are asked to "go to the train station in Gstaad, which is five minutes away.”
