Anyone attending a major event in the canton of Bern with over 1000 people from 1 October onwards must wear a mask. The cantonal government has passed a decree to this effect. At the beginning of October, the Canton of Berne will also reopen the drive-in test centre in Berne.
From 1 October, major events with over 1000 people will be possible again, provided they have been approved by the Canton. "Visitors who attend such a major event in the Canton of Bern will have to wear a mask," writes the cantonal government. This measure should enable the canton to approve major events. "If masks are worn consistently, the number of quarantines ordered can be significantly reduced", the cantonal government explains the measure.
Drive-in test centre in Bern to reopen
The drive-in corona test centre on the Bernexpo site in Bern will reopen at the beginning of October. "People with symptoms can be tested after completing an online questionnaire". People who go to the drive-in on the explicit instructions of the cantonal medical office do not have to fill in an online questionnaire beforehand. The costs are covered by the federal government. The opening hours will be announced shortly before the opening on www.be.ch/corona.
Infection clusters: Family, private parties and at work
According to the media release, many people in the canton of Bern have been infected in recent weeks in their families, at private parties and at work. "Health director Pierre-Alain Schnegg therefore calls on the people of Bern to consistently apply the rules of conduct and hygiene measures once again and to protect themselves and others from a corona infection at private occasions too". A mask should be worn at the workplace and also during breaks if the minimum distance of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained.
