Gold for Anja von Allmen

For the reigning junior world champion in laser 4.7, the start of the European Junior Championships was anything but as desired: Anja von Allmen (GYC/RCO/DRCS) failed to start the first three races. In the following races, however, the now 17-year-old always sailed in the top 5 at the Laser 4.7 Junior European Championships in Vilamoura, Portugal, and thanks to this consistency she confidently secured the European Championship title in the women's category!

"We started the first two days badly", confirms von Allmen’s coach Damir Nakrst. Von Allmen had put herself under too much pressure as the current junior world champion. The fact that she did not give up despite this bad start, but finally sailed to European Championship gold is due to her fighting nature: "When Anja realised that it was actually no big deal, she was unstoppable and really rolled over her opponents," says the coach.

With this title Anja von Allmen adds another success to her already impressive Palmarès. The grammar school pupil and current Swiss champion in Laser 4.7 had recently won the European Cup overall classification in the women's singles and was honoured accordingly in Vilamoura a week ago.

Anja von Allmen is now switching to the Laser Radial and intends to take part in the Radial Youth European Championship in Hyères at the end of October.
