Hans Stöckli and Werner Salzmann have been elected

Social Democrat, Hans Stöckli, has defended his seat in the small chamber. Werner Salzmann from the SVP was newly elected to the Council of States. He takes over the seat from the BDP. 

Hans Stöckli scored the best result in the run-off vote with 157,750 votes, Werner Salzmann won 154,586 votes. Regula Rytz of the Greens had to settle for third place (141,337 votes), Christa Markwalder (FDP) came in fourth place (115,163 votes). Rytz and Markwalder remain in the National Council. The voter turnout was 44.4%.

The Obersimmental-Saanen administrative districtIn the administrative district of Obersimmental-Saanen, Werner Salzmann scored the best result with 4001 votes, followed by Christa Markwalder with 2314 votes. Hans Stöckli finished third, ahead of Regula Rytz. At 46.6%, the voter turnout was slightly higher than the cantonal average.
