A residential and commercial building is left uninhabitable after a fire

  06.06.2019 Local News

The Bern cantonal police announced that a fire had broken out in a building with business premises and living quarters on the Egglistrasse in Gstaad on Saturday 1 June just before 2pm. The emergency services were called out immediately. When they arrived at the scene of the fire, the left hand side of the building was already completely ablaze. Members of the Saanen and Château-d'Oex fire brigades quickly brought the fire under control and subsequently extinguished it.

An ambulance was called out as a precaution, but nobody was injured. Residents who were affected were given temporary housing. At the moment, the whole building is uninhabitable. The Egglistrasse had to be closed off for several hours and a fire watch was put in place. The Bern cantonal police has started to investigate the cause of the fire.
