Opening of the new post agency in the tourist office

Mon, 13. May. 2019

The new post office in Saanen opened on Monday 6 May, replacing the former post office on Bahnhofstrasse. The former property has been sold by the post office to the Saanen Bank. The contract takes effect with the new solution for the postal service.

Many people attended the opening drinks celebration, all interested in having a look at the new location. "Because the GST office is being remodelled, we could plan in advance for a new location to handle the mail," said Andrea Riggenbach, managing director of Gstaad Saanenland Tourismus (GST). The new post office area is in the form of a cube and equipped with a set of weighing scales, a computer and other technical equipment. It all fits perfectly into the new post office.

The post office lies on the newly-designed village square. Customers are kindly asked to park their cars in the indoor car park or use other public parking areas. "We have a beautiful village centre with very little traffic and that's how it should stay!" commented Andreas Zoppas on behalf of the municipality of Saanen. If someone had a heavy package to post, they would have a fairly manageable trip to the tourist office to send it. However, the village square isn’t intended to turn into a car park, according to the former deputy director of GST. Therefore, initially, the community police will be around and about to remind post office customers of the parking prohibition around the square.
