Famous Fondue Caquelon Returns

Mon, 13. Nov. 2017

The large wooden caquelon that spent the summer as a regional ambassador in the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt is now back home. On the 7 November it was inaugurated into the cheese grotto in Gstaad, the newest of the grotto's three caquelons.

Three large wooden caquelons are now on offer in the Fondueland Gstaad and invite you to fondue fun in the open air. One of them is a special caquelon, because it acted as an ambassador for the Gstaad region and traveled to Germany, where it was in the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt over the summer. Returned it is with an engraving that is to commemorate the trip and is now above the cheese grotto of the dairy Gstaad.

Kerstin Sonnekalb, head of marketing communication at Destination Gstaad, opened the inauguration ceremony with a speech. Afterwards, Claudia Tschudin, event organiser at Destination Gstaad, who had organised the presence of the wooden ambassador in Frankfurt, and the new "caquelon god" René Ryser from the Gstaad dairy, cut the red ribbon. As caquelon god, René Ryser is responsible for the caquelon and must also monitor the fondue knives to keep them in good condition.
