First Edition of VTT-24 Held

  04.10.2017 Sports & Leisure

The «VTT-24» is a 24-hour race in which teams of up to eight participants, as well as individual players, must complete as many rounds as possible on a marked course. The course was challenging, running in a loop over 4.5 km of gravel paths, pastures and asphalt roads. There was a total of 32 teams with 152 riders. In the end, "Les Gruyèriens" took home the trophy, ranking 1st with 122 laps and with more than 524 km biked.

Starting children off biking at a very young age, the "Gymkhana" featured kids between three and 15 years old. The children's race has already been a tradition in Château-d'Oex for some years, dating back to 1997. Last weekend, 116 children competed in Gymkhana, which took place on an obstacle course with 26 obstacles to overcome.

Both races offered potential for a family day mountain biking. While this was VTT-24’s first year, the organizers hope to welcome even more teams in Château-d'Oex for next year’s competition.
