Glacier 3000 Run Celebrates Jubilee

  07.06.2017 Sports & Leisure

To mark the event’s anniversary, the organisers have added a special sporting challenge in addition to the traditional 26-km run. This year, one can begin a 42-km race in Gstaad and head up through the enchanting Alpine landscape up to the glacier. The traditional Glacier 3000 Run with a standard distance of 26 km and a height difference of 2015 m will be maintained.

Participants from at least 24 nations will participate in the race dubbed  “the toughest marathon in Switzerland”, known for its difficult route and staggering height difference. Top Swiss athletes like former Olympic freestyle skier Renato Ulrich will compete alongside international stars from Kuwait, Israel, and even Malaysia. The 33-year old has retired from professional skiing but now dedicates his efforts towards running, hiking, cycling, and biking.

Registration has now closed but the event is still looking for volunteers to help out with the festivities. More information is available on www.glacier3000run.ch.
