Fans of Swiss wrestling, schwingen, can expect a great season ahead if the results of local participants at recent events are any sign. The Bernese Oberlanders Heavyweight Open-Air season opened last week with wrestlers gathering in Ballenberg for the occasion.
The Saanenland had reason to be exceptionally proud of local Grunder Florian Aellen. Aellen, who was last year’s Oberländische Schwingfest champion, picked up a fourth place crown in Ballenberg. In total, eight wrestlers from the Saanenland participated. Also notable was the performance of Lauenen’s Marc Oehrli, who finished in ninth place.
