In memoriam: Linda de Picciotto

  09.02.2007 Profile

She headed countless fundraising projects and in her last few years was heavily involved with the high level coordination of numerous charitiesin Switzerland, such as Foyer Handicap. Linda was a hands-on humanitarian. She made several trips to South America and Africa for World Links, an organization founded by the World Bank. While there, she personally oversaw her village projects. She was also trying to improve education for children through the use of IT communication tools such as the PC and internet access. In addition to her philanthropic work, Linda was actively involved with the Institute for Applied Biosciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, a biotechnology center that applies research findings towards commercialization; she also promoted the arts through the Israel Museum, the Geneva Opera House and the Royal Opera House in London. Most importantly, she will be remembered by her family and friends as a compassionate and generous person whose enthusiastic personality was loved by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Always impeccably elegant, Linda was considered to be one of the best hostesses in Gstaad. She was also a Friend of the Saanen Hospital. She was always there for her own friends too. She will be greatly missed.
