Roy Emerson celebrating 70th birthday

Writing in London's Daily Telegraph, Robert Philip has an engaging tribute to the Aussie we like to call a Gstaader. Here's our favorite passage:

Still, Emerson was Wimbledon champion in 1964 and '65 and might have enjoyed a third successive Centre Court triumph in '66 but for colliding with the umpire's chair in the second set of his quarter-final against fellow Aussie Owen Davidson (having taken the first set 6-1). Were you badly hurt, I asked him? "Nah, but I dislocated my left shoulder, which made it kinda difficult to serve," Emmo drawled.
