At the end of April the wooden frame of the new Campingbrücke hovered over the Saane. The construction made of Swiss wood was placed in the foundation with millimetre precision. It was then covered with pressure-impregnated shingles. The treatment of the wooden shingles with an environmentally friendly water-based agent extends their service life by a factor of three to four. Trees as shade providers and constant moisture from the river below would cause comparatively rapid damage to the shingles in untreated condition. An opening was initially planned, but was postponed due to the current corona pandemic. The bridge was built on behalf of the municipality of Saanen for a total of CHF 300’000.
