Carla Jaggi Graduates as a Mountain Guide

Tue, 26. Sep. 2017

Carla Jaggi, a native of Saanen, has accomplished a rare feat for a Swiss woman—the 26-year old has just completed mountain guide training.

After three years of intensive training, Carla Jaggi is now a certified mountain guide, joining an exclusive group that includes only a handful of women. Together with Jaggi, three other women (out of a total of 23 participants) have completed the course, with only two of them passing the test.

The native Saanerin currently resides in Brienz, but wants to return to Saanenland in the winter.

"In the summer, Brienz is a central starting point for my professional activities," she says.

From there she is quickly in the Valais and the Bernese Oberland, where she often leads tours. In the winter, however, she says she cannot live without snow, and is still strongly connected to the Saanenland.

Hans Schär, member of the liberal party FDP, was re-elected for a four-year term. He is the only representative of the Saanenland in the Grand Council. Politicians lament the low voter turnout of only 36.8%.
