Expansion of the Rütti school complex clearly rejected

For the second time this year, the voters of Saanen had to vote on municipal agenda items at the ballot box. A total of seven agenda items were put to the vote.

It is not a big surprise that the municipal council's application for an increase in credit - from CHF 1.86m to CHF 30.8m - for the expansion of the Rütti school complex was rejected. With 566 votes in favour and 1509 against, the decision was very clear. The additional credit of almost 295,000 francs for ÜO No. 79 "Les Arts/Ried" was also surprisingly rejected by 1129 votes against and 823 in favour.

Due to the discussions and open letters in the run-up to the vote, one had to expect a rejection for the extension of the school complex, said Toni von Grünigen, president of the municipality. The main reasons for the rejection were probably the high costs and the discussions about the Turbach-Bissen school location. "There was a fear that the expansion in Gstaad would lead to the complete closure of the Turbach-Bissen school.

However, he was surprised by the rejection of the additional credit for the "Les Arts/Ried" development plan. "I had not expected this, the draft was not an issue in the run-up to the project," said von Grünigen. At the moment he could not say what the rejection of the supplementary credit meant.

Approval for loans totalling CHF 7.745m
The loan of CHF 1.01m for the replacement of the Lehnen viaduct at the Palacestrasse was clearly approved by 1590 votes in favour to 403 against. With 1687 votes in favour to 325 against, the public also voted in favour of the credit of CHF 1.85m for the construction of the Dorfrüttibrücke. The third infrastructure proposal was also approved. With 1629 votes in favour to 347 against, the investment loan of CHF 1.99m  for the renovation of the Riedhubel drainage network was clearly approved. The acquisition of the tournament rights of the ATP tennis tournament for CHF 2.895m was also approved. 1142 voters approved the loan, while 812 voted against it.
