Glacier 3000 run cancelled

  04.08.2020 Local News

Those responsible for the Glacier 3000 Run hoped right up to the end to be able to carry out the event, especially after the Federal Council loosened the rules, according to which events for up to 1,000 people – with isolated groups of a maximum of 300 people – are possible again.

But even with a staggered start the strict separation of the different groups and the 200 helpers responsible for safety and catering could not be guaranteed.

After consultation with the cantons of Vaud and Bern and the municipality of Saanen, “we had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Glacier 3000 Run and the Gstaad Kids Run,” says a Glacier 3000 media release, stating that safety and health had top priority. The organisers do not want to take any risks in this respect.
