Gsteig’s Hotel Sanetsch was recently sold to Yago Soler de la Riva, the co-owner of John Taylor Real Estate in Gstaad. The property is currently being renovated and is set to open for the summer season.
Soler de la Riva and his wife, Kattya, are thrilled about the project, which includes plans for a hotel, restaurant with a takeaway, and spacious garden. Children will be courted with special offers, as Soler de la Riva notes that, as a father, this is important to him.
Rather than open a new luxury property, it’s important to the owners that the hotel occupy the mid-price segment of the market. Roya Alavi from Geneva has been recruited to manage food and drink, which will offer menus of the day in addition to a small area to purchase regional specialities.
“There are enough luxury restaurants in the Saanenland already,” insists Soler de la Riva.
Hotel Sanetsch’s 30 rooms will be renovated, with some smaller rooms being put together into larger ones. The owners hope to make it a place that families with average incomes can afford, as well as be seasonal accommodation for local hospitality industry staff. Gsteig’s municipal representative Paul Reichenbach has stated that the Hotel Sanetsch lies in a hotel zone and can therefore serve both overnight guests and longer-stay hotel workers.
The new and improved Hotel Sanetsch is set to open in June 2017, just in time for the start of the summer season.
