Steffisburg architect wins competition for Saanen care home

This is an artist's rendition of the planned new care home for the elderly in front of Saanen hospital (the vet's building will have to go for this). The winner of the project competition is Heinz Fahrni, an architect from Steffisburg. Bethli Küng, president of the Saanen administrative council strongly supports this project and is already sure that the opening will be in 2013. After Les Arts the Gstaad this is the second major chalet-chic construction project to be announced... A breath of fresh air... or a monstrosity?

The deign is totally inappropriate. It would be a carbuncle on the beautiful face of the Saanenland.
