Gstaad bypass and tunnel to be renewed
Soon under construction - Gstaad bypass plus tunnel. (Picture: Nicole Maron)
Winter is not over yet but already the upcoming renewal of the Gstaad bypass and tunnel is making the news. Construction will begin between April 6 and 12 and includes all 430 meters of roadway including all four roundabouts. Not only is the complete stretch going to be resurfaced with a special and new coating but the tunnel will get some new paint. Sounds like quite a bit of chaos on its way but apparently they are going to leave one side of the street open at all times and circle the opposite direction around the back of the Promenade via post office, train station and train viaduct. So much for a Promenade. July 4 is the targeted completion date. First Saanen, now this... at least Bulle is done.

As always, anything goes to give more work to the local construction companies...

It will be a problem whilst the works are going on, but perhaps it is a necessary evil. After all, if the road needs to be resurfaced then it should be, otherwise accidents could happen.
