Swiss minaret discussion reaches Saanenland
Switzerland decides on November 29 whether or not the construction of minarets in Switzerland should be permitted. This hot topic has now reached Saanenland where most parties are against the motion of the initiation comitee who want to include the sentence "The construction of minarets is forbidden" in the federal constitution. Whoa Hoa!
Don't know enough about Swiss law.....but do believe they have freedom of religion......
so this sounds shaky......
Lots of lovely Muslims in the world...but they do appear (their radical right anyway) to be taking over the world....

We should finance the construction of Christian Churches in Saudi Arabia and Iran and then let them build here...

Moslems want to destroy Western culture, including Switzerland. Invite them as tourists, nothing more. Allow no minarets whatsoever. When the moslem world stops persecuting and killing Christians and Jews and decides to become civilized and stop pursuing a "moslem world," only then shall they be welcome to live in Switzerland.

I think the idea of banning minarets as an architectual style would have been a better approach.
The argument could have been that it is incompatible with traditional and modern Swiss arcitectual styles.
Trying to use scare tacticts was short sided and could backfire economically forthe Swiss. Also, I think it was a feelgood vote for the extreme political right. Maybe, they could have all decided that they don't like minarets and left it at that?
I wish the Swiss the best of luck in turning this issue around into a positive direction
