One injured in Eggli igloo village fire

You might think it's pretty hard to set an igloo on fire, but that's exactly what one unwitting tourist managed this past Friday night on the Eggli. For the unfamiliar, there's a "village" of igloos close to the mountain restaurant atop the Eggli, a complex of buildings made from ice housing a 30-bed hotel that includes a bar, sauna and whirpool. As the chill of Friday night set in, a female guest lit some candles for ambiance and warmth, but fell asleep. She was awoken by a friend who noticed that the candle had set alight her travel bag. Fortunately the flames were quickly brought under control by the fire department, and the lady escaped to safety and was taken to hospital in Bern suffering from smoke inhalation.
