What happened to the Bahnhöfli Saanenmöser?
Those of who traveling to Gstaad via the Simmental may have noticed a gaping hole in the ground in Saanenmöser. Formerly the site of the Hotel Bahnhöfli, the building has been pulled down to make way for a new chalet containing a hotel and five new apartments. Everybody's quiet favorite, the Bahnhöfli restaurant will reopen next winter, and most importantly, Christoph and Franziska Remund will still be on hand to greet returning customers. “There will be a Gaststube in the same style as before, and the new restaurant will serve Mediterranean and local cuisine,” chef Christoph Remund said. Remund’s culinary credits include the Gstaad Palace and the Rialto Gstaad. In the meantime, you can enjoy his cooking and a wood fire grill at the Bistro Au Montagnard in Château-d’Oex. For reservations call 026 924 54 34 (and do call, because it's quite small). The restaurant is open daily in winter for lunch and dinner. The Remunds can also do private parties and catering on request.
